30th November – 24th December 2012
Dresden is situated around the halfway point between Berlin and Prague and is a popular stop for guests taking private transfers with us between the Czech and German capitals. There are many reasons to stop off here: admiring the baroque architecture, soaking up a bit of culture in a gallery, seeing the VW Phaeton assembly line, or like a lot of people at this time of year, visiting the legendary Dresden Christmas markets.
You’ll find Christmas Markets on several squares in Dresden, the main ones being on Altmarkt and Neumarkt. If you’re looking for souvenirs of your visit, the markets feature handmade toys, candles, glassware and jewellery. There’s plenty to eat and drink as well, such as the Christmas-time classics Christstollen (a bread-like fruitcake, baked with yeast), crepes and hot waffles, washed down with some warming Gluhwein (mulled wine) or eggnog. You should also expect the wurst – bratwurst and currywurst that is!
Below are a few photos from our day trip there last weekend.
You’ll find more information about the Christmas Markets in Dresden on the official web page. Here’s a map showing Dresden in relation to Berlin and Prague:
