New Day Trips and Tours for Prague

Published , by

Winter might be a quiet time for tourism in Prague but it doesn’t mean our Central Europe team gets to take it easy. This year we’ve readied a whole load of new tours and day trips for our guests to enjoy. Feedback from past guests telling us they much prefer private tours means we’ve put a lot of effort into filling this need. Some are direct replacements for group versions of a tour whilst others are unique to JayWay, particularly the combination whole-day tours that take in two or more sights in one trip, making the most of your time.

Jewish Heritage

A walking tour of Jewish Prague is very popular with our guests with Jewish roots. We’ve replaced the group version of this tour with a private one, with our own local representative, meaning you get a much more intimate experience and the convenience of picking when you do the tour.

A little over an hour from Prague is Terezin, a garrison town that was repurposed as a Jewish ghetto, prison and transit camp during WWII. On the way back you migh twant to lighten your mood with a stop at Melnik chateau right at the confluence of the Elbe and Moldau (Labe and Vlatava in Czech) rivers to try the chateau’s wine and enjoy the impressive views.

For beer lovers

The Czech Republic is known for its beer and we have three new activity and tour options for you this year.

Evening Beer tour

Replacing the group beer tour & dinner that received less than stellar feedback in the past is a new Prague beer tour that you’ll take with our local representative, stopping off at three interesting pubs and microbreweries. Your tour will end at a carefully chosen beer restaurant where your guide will help you with your selection from the menu then leave you to enjoy your meal.

Beer SpaBathe in beer

Beer’s great to drink but what about bathing in it while you drink it? The beer extract that is added to the warm water is reputed to have a positive effect on the immune system, calm the nervous system and have benefical effects on skin and hair. You can enjoy unlimited consumption of beer from your personal tap whilst you bathe too. The Beer Spa is located just off Old Town Square in the heart of Prague.

Pilsner BreweryPilsner brewery & Crystal factory

Possibly the country’s most famous export and a lot of it comes from the Pilsner Urquell brewery>. On the way you’ll stop off at a typical Bohemian crystal and glassworks. After watching drinking vessels being made it’s off to Plzen to see the stuff that goes in them. For a small extra hourly fee you can extend your time in Plzen to see a few more of the sights, such as the cathedral or the catacombs beneath the city center. If beer’s not your thing, there’s an alternative to the brewery visit in the form of a visit to the country’s largest producer of Sekt or sparkling wine.

Skoda Museum and Factory visit

From one famous Czech export to another. Skoda is one of the oldest car manufacturers in the world and is now part of the Volkswagen Group. This trip to the Skoda factory and museum in Mlada Boleslav combines the past, present and future of the marque’s models. If you like you can make an extra stop on the way back to Prague at a number of diverse locations.

TelcTelč and a Bohemian town

Just under 2 hours drive from Prague is the chocolate box pretty

Karlovy Vary

Although we offer Karlovy Vary as an overnight destination it can be hard to fit in to a packed itinerary. As it’s under 2 hours by road, it’s ideal for a day trip. Walk along the promenades, take the waters and maybe fit in a spa treatment, then back to Prague in time for dinner.
